We use the thoughtfully developed Frog Street curriculum, which is designed specifically for young toddlers to spark curiosity, support social-emotional development, and build early learning skills through play, exploration, and intentional interactions.
At this age, learning happens through everyday routines. A toddler practices self-care and independence by finding their own diaper during changing time, rubbing soap onto their hands as they wash, or using a paper towel to help clean the table before and after meals. These small tasks help build confidence, independence, and early problem-solving skills.
During art, we explore colors, shapes, textures, and feelings—encouraging creativity and self-expression. In the block area, children build roadways, towers, and even zoos, developing early math and engineering skills as they experiment with cause and effect. Mealtime becomes a social experience where we talk about our morning, recall things we noticed on our walk, or simply listen as the children initiate their own conversations and songs.
The developmental growth that happens between ages 1 and 2 is remarkable. Walking, talking, social skills, emotional awareness, and independence all burst forward during this year—and every child reaches these milestones on their own unique timeline. We embrace each child as an individual and are passionate about helping them grow into the curious, confident toddlers they are becoming.
We also believe strongly in daily communication with families. Our teachers work together as a cohesive unit, and we want you to feel comfortable with all members of our Younger Toddler team—even when your child’s primary teacher isn’t available at drop-off or pick-up. Our classrooms spend plenty of time together at the start and end of each day, and often throughout the day when the weather invites us outdoors.
We are honored to partner with you during this exciting stage of your child’s development and look forward to nurturing their curiosity every step of the way.
